As a football fan, what’s better than heading to Lambeau Field on the weekend in the middle of winter? Answer: Going on a Sunday and having tickets on the 50 yard line or better yet, having a reserved VIP suite. Neither of which we had today when we traveled north to experience the Mecca of football stadiums. Oh, and we grabbed a bite to eat as well.
Limited Menu on Game Day Weekend
Curly’s Pub is a sports bar and restaurant located on the second floor of the stadium. Note: On game weekends, the pub has a limited menu due to the high volume of customers. We ordered soft pretzels for an appetizer. I will admit, I have driven to Green Bay solely for these warm, buttery bites straight from carbohydrate heaven. However, when they arrived at the table, I could feel the blood drain from my face in sheer disappointment. My beloved pretzel bites had turned into pretzel sticks. The waitress, who must have caught the look of devastation on my face, came over and explained that the restaurant was recently taken over by new people and they changed up the menu. She reassured me the new pretzels were just as good as the old ones. Her words of comfort were aided by my first bite of cheese-coated awesomeness.
After two pretzel sticks dipped in warm cheddar cheese, it was time to for the real deal. I order a turkey club with kettle chips and was simply satisfied with the sandwich. It was turkey, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and mayo on wheat bread and a pickle to top it off. Being the football fan I am, they could have fed me old cat food in a cardboard box and I still would have been a happy Packers fan, in the greatest stadium in the world.
