Fratellos in Appleton was the lunch location we decided on for Wednesday and all I can say about the place is wow. From the service, to the delicious food, to the amazing views of the river, this place just landed on the top of my favorites in the valley list.
Fratellos is located in an old factory building on the Fox River only about 3 minutes from downtown Appleton. From the outside, it doesn’t look like much, but the old building has been completely restored and has a very warm, welcoming, yet chic, modern feel. There is a large bar that faces the river and an upper and lower level seating arrangement in the main dining room. The entire dining area is surrounded by large windows that bring in all the sunlight someone could ask for on a chilly winter day in January.
Ahi Tuna Lollipops
We ordered the Ahi Tuna Lollipops for an appetizer and was disappointed (slightly) by the small amount of actual tuna that came with the dish, but as the saying goes, good things come in small packages. It was sushi grade sesame-seared Ahi Tuna on top of a sauce that perfectly completed the seafood morsels.
As good as the Ahi Tuna was, the bruschetta chicken was perhaps even more outstanding (or maybe I’m just biased against raw hunks of fish regardless of how tasty they may be). What you see before you below is a glob of fresh mozzarella perched on bruschetta which in turn has been placed on a chicken breast. The chicken breast itself is then laid onto a bed green beans and a rich thick risotto. Over all was drizzled a mild vinaigrette.
