New York Deli [West Coast Turkey]
Having been here before for coffee, it was time to try out the food at New York Deli on the West side of Appleton for lunch. The place is located in a strip mall across the road from a place that is on the Food In The Fox list, Osorio’s Latin Fusion. The place has large windows, bringing in all the sunshine one could ask for on a chilly February day. The place is very modern looking with many small tables scattered throughout the medium-sized dinning area. They also have a large case, in which they highlight their variety of fresh meats and cheeses.
The menu at the place includes everything you would expect at a deli, including sandwiches, wraps, paninis, salads and soups. All of their meat is Boars Head, which is a pretty popular brand carried by select delis. The deli sandwiches come on your choice of rye, multi-grain or sourdough bread and are served with a dill pickle for a side and a strawberry for a bite of something sweet to accompany the sandwich. After little deliberation, I decided that the West Coast Turkey was the sandwich for choice for me.
Tasty Turkey on Sourdough
The place was somewhat busy, but it was lunch time and our food came out fairly quickly. It was brought to the table by a friendly staff member who asked us kindly, if we needed anything else. The sandwich was not over sized and the sourdough bread was somehow different from most other sandwich breads. It was absolutely tasty and the perfect carbohydrates to surround the fresh turkey, romaine lettuce, sun-dried tomatoes, sprouts, cucumbers and mayo. The sandwich was great, but my only complaint was it kind of fell apart while eating it, but I blame that on the sandwich operator, who was multitasking while trying to eat. I would definitely recommend trying out the deli if you are on the West side of Appleton.
