Mary’s Family Restaurant [Spinach Quiche]
THRIVE Coffee was at Mary’s Family Restaurant off of North Richmond Street in Appleton on Tuesday morning. Having been to the other Mary’s Family Restaurant off of Oneida Street several times, it was a nice change of scenery, but with the same menu and friendly staff. Walking in, I must have looked tired, because the waitress immediately asked me for coffee. I nodded and she lead us to a section of the restaurant that would easily fit the THRIVE Coffee group.
Quick Service, Good Specials
Within a few moments of sitting down, two waitresses brought pots of coffee, coffee cups, and creamers and scattered them around the table. They also brought over menus and had the table completely setup for a group of 15 within minutes if not seconds. It was impressive. They also had table tents setup with breakfast specials and a few desserts that looked terrific. The breakfast specials ranged from about $4-$7, which was a pretty decent deal. When I walked in, I noticed a sign that had specials that included quiche. Well, after a lady across the table ordered it, I decided to give it a try, with a side of wheat toast.
Eggs Done A Bit Different
Having had quiche only a few times, I have never had it with a crust like this one had. It was very similar to a pie crust and was probably filled with butter or something unhealthy to give it that flaky like texture. The eggs were fluffy and the spinach, tomato and onion were pretty good, overall. It was a bit strange to be eating something that looked more like egg pie, but regardless, it was good. Even the unfamiliar crust seemed to go well with the eggs and vegetables. Between this and a cup of Joe (or 4), the total came to right around $7.
