Holidays Pub & Grill [Buffalo Chicken Salad]

While thinking about where to do lunch today, I thought it would be a great day to sit outside. There are not too many places in the Fox Valley that offer outdoor seating, so when I thought about Holidays upstairs patio, there was no going anywhere else, even though Sam Brulos just opened up on College Avenue (Food in the Fox will be venturing there soon).

Monster Burrito

It was right around 11:00AM when we got there and the upstairs patio was empty, except for the cool boat thing in the picture below. We found a spot in the shade and began browsing through the pub’s menu. The have a section that includes all of their signature items on it and one that caught my eye was the ‘Monster Burrito’. This burrito is Adolfo’s infamous burrito made with marinated grilled chicken or seasoned ground beef, mixed together with pico de gallo, onions, rice, refried beans, sour cream, and lettuce all wrapped up in a flour tortilla and topped with cheddar cheese, chipotle mayo and garlic Parmesan sauce. It is served with a side of chips and salsa and the picture looked like it could feed a village for a week.

“I’m going to get something different. Just kidding.”

I went with something typical, after saying I was going to try something different. I order the Buffalo Chicken Salad and it came with your choice of grilled or breaded chicken tossed in any one of our wing sauces, set atop a bed of lettuce with diced tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and a blend of shredded cheeses. I decided to go with the spicy BBQ sauce on the chicken and it had a serious bit to it, but the ranch dressing on the side helped the burn. It was overall a normal salad, nothing to write home about, but good.

The best part of the experience? Enjoying the warm summer sun on the patio.
