The Clubhouse [Chef Salad]
For some reason, I had a hard time wrapping my head around the name of the bar inside of the Paper Valley hotel in downtown Appleton. Maybe because there are multiple eating and drinking places within the hotel? I am not sure why I was getting confused. Moving on, I have been here before for a Fox Cities Chamber event, but up until recently had not tried the food at The Clubhouse.
Monday Night at the Clubhouse
While sitting in the restaurant, waiting on lunch, the bar manager (who is a wonderful ADI volunteer) mentioned that they do a live taping of a Packer show here on Monday nights (Clubhouse Live). John Kuhn is one of the regulars and other players usually join him. Last year, they had Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews. Awesome. He said the best thing to do, is come on a Monday at about 4:00 to get a good spot and hang out until the show starts at 6:00. Sign me up.
Okay, now on to the part about the food. The menu has typical bar food on it and everything was very reasonably priced. They had a few different lighter options, one being the chef salad, which included turkey, (plenty of) cheese, onion, lettuce and bacon with a side of dressing. When I say plenty of cheese, I am talking probably close to a half a pound of thin strips of cheddar and (I think) American cheese. The salad was good, but nothing over the top. The sandwich basket it was served in made the place feel that much more like a sports bar.
This place is centrally located in Appleton and has plenty of TV’s and a full bar for any sports fan to enjoy. Overall, a decent experience.
